We have launched our new practice blog to keep you informed of what is happening within the practice as well as telling you about a few interesting cases we have seen recently. We have several contributors to the blog within the practice covering all aspects of our work. We will obviously add content at regular intervals and welcome your feedback using the link on the website. See you again soon Greg Mallard |

We have just had our IIP (Investors in People) review lasting 2 days. Many of the staff are interviewed by the assessor to determine whether our business structure and the support we give our staff is really working. We feel that the IIP status is something that benefits our business and reflects well on all who work for us. We have retained our status and will have our next formal assessment in 3 years time. IIP is an ongoing program and not simply something that happens every now and then. |

Well what a fantastic day ! The weather was wonderful, there were a huge number of visitors, and we had a very busy day. Without a doubt our busiest Frome Show ever, and we managed to squeeze in a hot dog and an uncomfortable cow ! Our congratulations go to the organisers who did a fantastic job, and it was so nice to see so many people enjoying themselves. We will post some pictures of the day as soon as we can. |

Many of the intrepid members of staff and their families took part in a Tour de Garston in September. We cycled from the RSPCA Bath Cats and Dogs Home at Claverton near Bath, where we provide veterinary services, via our Trowbridge and Warminster surgeries, to end up at our Frome surgery for a well deserved barbeque. For a full report and video see the link on the Home Page |

Well the work has now started along Christchurch Street to renew the sewers. It has started at the western end of the road and will slowly creep towards us past H&B tyres over the next few weeks. The road is completely closed but access to the surgery from the station end of Portway will remain open. Eventually it will reach the roundabout outside the surgery, but again we will always have access available to our car park. if you are not sure about how to find us whilst the work is ongoing please call the surgery for an update. |

Vicky was called out to calve a cow on a farm where the farmer was having difficulties. On first examination she felt something very odd, the calf had a huge head and clearly was not going to be delivered normally. She discussed the findings with the farmer and they decided to do a caesarian. I went along to help and we cut a hole in the left flank of the cow to deliver the calf - all of this carried out with the cow awake but anaesthetised locally. A general anaesthetic is very risky in a cow because of the pressure of the rumen on the chest and the risk of inhalation of stomach contents. |

Fitz is a very lucky Springer Spaniel who has a bit of a penchant for eating things he shouldn't. About a week and a half ago he started being sick. After 24 hours of not keeping anything down his owners brought him to see me. Luckily for Fitz, his owners made the right decision early enough. |
